Health and Environmental Services
BACKGROUND
- The Health Department is made up of two sections namely Clinical and Environmental sections.
- The City is serviced by 5 clinics, Amaveni, Mbizo 1, Mbizo 11, Mbizo 16 and Al Davies clinics among other players.
- The recently renovated 24 bedded Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) caters for Kwekwe residents and beyond.
- Kwekwe General Hospital, a Government institution, is within Kwekwe City boundaries and serves as a referral center for all the facilities
- All clinics offer Comprehensive Primary Health Care package including maternity services, HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis treatment initiatives, community and school health services.
- However, Al Davies and Mbizo 16 clinics do not carry out maternity delivery services.
- A medical practitioner visits weekly all clinics as per schedule to review all complicated cases
- Kwekwe City Health Department is fully financed by Council with support from the Central Government and Partners, whose targets have to be met.
